4 Kids I Must Be Nuts

Sign Translation From a 4 Year Old

If there is one thing I REALLY LOVE about being a Mom is seeing the world through the eyes of my kids.

This morning while I was dropping off the little ones at daycare, Isaiah (4) made me laugh.

He looked at the handicap parking sign next to our car and said ‘Mom no old people can be here’. It took a minute for me to get the whole translation but it was too funny.

I took a deep breath and tried no to laugh (he hates that) and explained that is was for people in wheel chairs.

Too funny.

 Protection

Being an only child, it amazes me how close the kids are, well when it comes down to it. Through out all the fighting, all the fussing when it comes down to protecting one another their right there.

That is what I have tried to instill in them, that family protects one another. I am so glad that they have heeded my lessons and put them into place.

Darian (13) is much more protective now of Cullen (9) then he used to be. Cullen will be quick to speak up if someone is bothering Darian. Then there is one in a million Isaiah (4) who just wants to fight. When the older boys come home complaining about kids they have problems with, he always pipes up with ‘I will fight them because I love my brothers’.

Yesterday was Geneva’s (15 months) turn to be protected. Cullen came home all upset that a kid in the neighborhood had called Geneva a slut (yes a slut). I tried to calm Cullen down and tell him how kids will use what ever they know will make him angry to upset him. He started to cry, ‘Yes but she’s my baby sister and I love her!’.

Now let me tell you how pissed I was myself that the kid called Geneva that but I know kids are different depending on how their raised and what they have been around, but I feel Cullen handled it right.

The Long Way Home, For A Reason

I have been taking my youngest two, Geneva (15 months) and Isaiah (4) to the park after dinner. At first it was so tiring but then I get such a boost of energy and all around good feelings as I watch them play, run and laugh.

Tonight the oldest two, Darian (13) and Cullen (9) came with us, on their own free will. I all most died that they wanted to leave their friends and come with their old Mom. I just went to tell them where I would be, not in a million years would I expect they would want to come.

There was one point when all five of us were on the see saw together. Geneva and I on one side, Isaiah in the middle then Darian and Cullen on the other side. It’s times like these that make it all worth it.

I watched the boys as they played so good together. Laughing and joking chasing after each other.

As it got late it was time to go home for baths. I honestly did not want this night to end. I took the long way home pumping the music for the kids as they all danced including little Miss Neva waving her hands from side to side.

I cherish these moments because there will come a time when they branch off away from me and each other.

 Midnight Kisses

Midnight wake ups, always disturb a parent’s sleeping. Yet it is also a chance to spend some quality time with the little ones. Before you know it there will be no more midnight wake ups.

Last night Geneva (15 months) woke from her sleep. She was spending her firs night in her toddler bed, no more crib for the big girl. I held her and patted her back as she fell back asleep.

Out of no where she lifted her little head and planted a nice little kiss on my lips. Boy did that make my night and my day. I could not help but to think about that kiss all day today.

 Tiki and Buto

Isaiah (4) has been mentioning his other Father, Buto (pronounced butt whole without the le) and his other Mother, Tiki for about a week or so now. At first I just blew it off but now the kid talks about them as if they are real.

It is kind of freaking me out now. Like today out of no where he said to me that he missed his other Mom and Dad, Tiki and Buto.

I know kids have imaginary friends and what not but to replace your own parents? Then I start to wonder if they are spirits that he sees. Some people say young children can see and communicate with spirits but then again maybe it is just a good imagination.

All I know is I am a little jealous of my competition Tiki!
