4 Kids I Must Be Nuts

 Love These Days

The good weather is here... no more snow just sunshine and warmth.

You know these days are here when your a parent. Your kids run themselves ragged outside running, laughing. Then when they come in at night you see the dirt in places you never thought they could get dirty.

The best part... a reward for us parents is at night when their all nestled quietly in their beds dead to the world in deep sleep from all there activity.

It's so nice this year as last year Geneva (1) was just an infant. I would look around at kids around 1 and say next year my little girl will be walking around like that. She is doing just that she loves her new found freedom walking where she pleases exploring her world.

 Day Away

It's supposed to reach the 90s today in my neck of the woods. So you know what that means right?????? THE BEACH!!!!!!!

The older boys have physicals today anyhow so I figured I would give them a little bit of a treat by taking them to the beach first.

It should be nice having all my kids together at the beach... my favorite place to chill out and think.

 For Cullen

My son is part of MLK's dream... the world may view him as a sin... for being born out of wedlock.... or unpure because he has a black father and a white woman... but I see MLK's dream.

Those who stood before us in the civil rights era stood firmly behind what they believed in... what was rightfuly theirs as should be for any man or woman regardless of their race, color or creed

A mother teachers her child to appologize for things they do or say that may hurt another person even if it is not intentional

It appears that not everyone was taught the same way. Some people feel that a word is just a word... which may be true but sometimes any word can be used as a weapon to dig into someone's soul specialy a soul of a child who's innocence to the out side can be shattered by a hateful word

All though his glass was shattered I tried as best as I could to repair those breaks with love, compassion, understanding and protection.

My son the dream of so many before us who did not have the freedom to speak their thoughts...to put their rights into actions.

Be proud my son of who you are.... words can be hurtful... battles can be draining..... standing up for what is right sometimes is not the easiest path to take this we know first hand.

 Healing My Son

Funny how one good nights sleep can put a lot of things back in order for you... huh?

I awoke this morning forcing myself to do something I have tried to avoid.... putting Cullen into counseling. He has issues that are bigger then me... his Dad... his identity as a biracial child.

So I made the call for a counselor. I am hoping talking to someone safe just for him can help him overcome the past... make peace with his Dad's absence... make peace with loving himself despite what others may say to him.

Perhaps seeing him at peace will help me. At times as parents we have to step aside when something just CAN NOT be fixed by our own hands. That time is now for me.

Hopefuly through his counseling journey we will be led down a path to find his peace in his own way to make each situation that touched his life corrected in the proper way.
