I know I have not been writing like I used to it is a combination of being in a little depressing rut and not having the time but mostly not having the time. Working full time and taking care of 4 kids drains every bit of energy out of you.
Some great and funny things have happened over the last few weeks. My older boys; Darian (14) and Cullen (10) went out after the last snow storm and shoveled people’s driveways and walks for money. I was so proud of them they thought of it on their own.
I was shocked because I didn’t know kids thought to do that anymore. They were very proud of the money they earned and spoke eagerly of the customers they had made who told them to come back the next snow storm.
The highlight for me was to hear those boys talk about how they charged an elderly woman 5 bucks to do her driveway when they were charging 10 to others because she was elderly. At first they offered to do it for 2 bucks because of her age but she insisted 5.
It’s times like those that make me proud as a Mom to know their taking the lessons I have been teaching them through out their lives and applying it.
And I leave you with a good Isaiah story. On Christmas eve we each opened up one present. Isaiah was livid that Cullen got a small robot because that is what he wanted (neither did he know he had a huge robosapien waiting for him for Christmas).
So I turned to older brother Darian (14) for help. I gave him my cell phone and told him to call Isaiah from the other room and pretend to be Santa figuring Isaiah wouldn’t know.
Isaiah listened for a few seconds before he ran into the kitchen to see if the other phone was on the hook then he said I know it’s Darian.
