Yesterday we had a tornado warning. I was a mess rushing to get the little ones from daycare before it hit. My neighbors urged me not to go get them as I might get caught in the storm but I could not even fathom having my babies without me at daycare during such an event.
We got home in record time and went into the basement with my neighbors and their kids where it would be safe. Thank goodness the tornado warning was just that and life resumed.
54 people have been killed during a tornado this year. One town Parkersberg was destroyed.
4 boys were killed at a boy scout camp. Many got hurt.
I would make a tornado plan and expain what to do, let you kids know what to do.
It's nice to see you back posting
michele :)
How current are they on their fire drills? (Which should also be done once a month.)
You can ask to see the drill sheet. They should have it posted readily and you can see if they did it that month and how long it took to get all the kids out.
Just curious...things I thought in the past hour!
My youngest (yeh, I know she's 17 but she's MY baby!) was working at her ice cream store and part of me wanted to go get HER! But well...you know..you just pray that if something happens, they can tuck themselves in a safe spot where they are!
You never stop being a parent! No matter how old they get!

And we love each other and miss each other when we are gone...
And hurt when the other is hurting and going through tough times.

In such a situation, you would want to be with your kids, if possible.
